The Bolton Lighthouse received a wonderful gift at its opening. Ten congregations attended the opening including Anglican, Free Evangelical and bothers and sisters from African congregations. We were priviledged to have George Verwer, former International Director of Operation Mobilzation (OM) ,to open the Lighthouse.
George had lived and worked in Bolton from 1963 to 1967. He lived at 86 Deansgate, Bolton which is now a bookshop. George recalled his fond memories of Bolton and related that fact that the world famous ships ministry was conceived here. Today OM has three large ships sailing the globe taking the Good News of Jesus Christ to all parts of the world, and it all started in Bolton!
The worship took place in St. George the Martyr's Church, Roseberry Avenue, Bolton. It was led by worship leader Aaron Scollen from Salt Church ,Bolton . Navaid Syed gave a message on the theology of the Lighthouse and the challenge of 'ministering in brokeness'.
Later the worshippers processed to the LIghthouse at 39, Mercia Street Bolton where George Verwer performed the official opening and gave an inspiring speech. Please check out the photographs of the opening event at www.freewebs.com/boltonlighthouse.
Bless you for reading this.
