Our work is a partnership between Probation, Northwest Prisons and Greater Manchester Churches Together and will work on the multi faith model on which prison Chaplaincy is based, serving people of any faith or none.
Our aim is to help those released from prison to reintegrate in community and their family by offering a supportive network that will enable them to sustain a new lifestyle. We furthermore aim to prevent re-offending. As we all know, crime breaks relationships in community. On release from prison, people are vulnerable and often isolated. It is paramount that they connect with a community that builds on the progress that is made during imprisonment. This is the core of restorative justice.
The volunteers who work alongside us will receive training. This way, we will have a framework to harness the amount of goodwill there is in our city to help ex-offenders.
